Football Sunday: Crockpot Pizza Dip

This blog has moved to a new home!! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

I love crockpot recipes. Especially when the recipe instructions being with "throw all ingredients in the crockpot..." it makes for a delicious, hot dish in a pinch. This is one of those appetizers that you can impress your guests with and it takes absolutely no time or energy to prepare. And it's perfect for Football Sunday games. :)

Crockpot Pizza Dip

Ingredients:

1 8 oz package of Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
1 jar of pizza sauce
1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tsp of Italian seasoning
1/2 cup of cut up pepperoni slices

You also may want to buy:

1 loaf of French bread, thinly cut (for dipping)

Instructions:

Throw all the ingredients into a crockpot and cook on low for one hour (or until cheese is melted and you can stir easily through the mixture). Be sure to stir a few times while everything melts together.

Dig in!

Project Autumn: Take Two

This blog has moved to a new home!! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

I think we have finally turned a corner here in south Florida. Although the high is still 88 degrees, the humidity has dropped considerably and a breeze has kicked on. It feels incredible not to feel like I'm breathing in water as I go about my day. The dryer air has me feeling light and spirited and as if we are experiencing our very own change in the season.

Here are a few ways to continue that feeling by bringing some "fall" into your home (no matter when you live) with three effortless tips.

Publix 9/26 HAUL Total $223 Worth in Groceries for $29!!

This blog has moved to a new home!! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

Apparently I didn't get enough quality time at Publix this morning and had to go back and do more shopping.

Afternoon shopping trip

Their are just so many good deals going on right now! Between entertaining a three and almost-one year old and trying to get back by naptime, the morning trip got cut short. So here's the second round at Publix today, with the breakdowns of course, giving a whopping total of $223 Worth in Groceries for $29 bucks. Unreal. It's definitely my personal best. I am also so happy I can share it with all of you, since we can all use a little wiggle room in our grocery budgets.

Oh! and be sure to check out my post "Project Autumn: Take Two" for all those who live in the warmer climates but still dream of getting cozy this fall season. I outline a few simple steps to make it feel more seasonal in your own home.

Alright already! Here's the breakdown from this afternoon:

Publix Shopping Trip 9/26 $89 Worth in Groceries for $4 - With Shopper Link Ups!

This blog has moved to a new home!! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

I am happy to report that today's Publix shopping trip was very successful. I felt obligated to make it up to you on this week's run, since my last one was hardly exciting. And I certainly write to bring value, not to waste your time!

If you are unfamiliar with my weekly shopping post, here are the basics about it. I like to try to spend around $10 max and get the most possible for my money. What began as a game amongst friends turned into this blog! You can thank some very persistent people for encouraging me to share my tactics.

For those that don't know, the new Publix ads starts on Thursday here in my neck of the woods (Florida - the land of "no-doubling"...scratching your head on what they means? see my post "Couponing in Florida") and I try to break down how I did it and get the information out to you asap so you can plan your trip. Even though the focus is on shopping at Publix and specific sales at that store, many of these deals can be accomplished at your local store, or especially Target and Walmart. Of course it depends on the deal, but with a little practice you'll figure out how it works for your benefit.

LOTS of fresh fruit and vegetables on this trip! I love it when we can get fresh produce for free or pennies to the dollar. I have growing kids that need healthy things to eat!

Special cookie time for my kiddos for being good shoppers today!

On a deeper note, we are turning the corner into the holiday season -well, sort of, getting closer anyway- and I am putting the pressure on myself to be extra coupon savvy. I want to make a generous donation of goods to a local charity or charities in need this season. My kids are still so little, but not too little to begin forming habits of giving. I'm personally not a big stockpiling person, however, I do have many boxes of pasta that I want to hang on to and waaaaay too much shaving cream that I'm excited to not have to buy for my husband for a year. (Okay. That was my confession.) So I am putting together extras of things I pick up on my weekly trips. I might typically only buy 4 of something, for example, but if I can get it for practically nothing then I will pick up two more to keep for my donating stockpile. Very simple.

Will you join me? Think about it seriously. I would love for those who do donate to make recommendations for us newbies in the comments below. If you don't donate some items from your amazing deals, please understand I'm not guilt tripping you! It's a very personal choice! But if you are beginning to get motivated to do so I encourage you to share with us. Talk about inspiring one another!

I want to remind you that I've set up a Facebook page for our frugal and inspirational community. You can find it at www.Facebook/capturinginspirationsblog. It's a great way to stay connected and up with the happenings 'round here. I'd love for your to join our page, give it a thumbs up and participate in our growing group! You can also subscribe by adding your email to the "Follow Me" on the sidebar. You guys are awesome and I am thankful for your support!

*On a very happy note, I went back for 'round two' at Publix this afternoon to snag some other great deals I missed. Today's whopping total is $223 for $29. So, be sure to check out the rest here!

Here's the breakdown for this week's trip: (from this morning)

Spinach and Pesto Stuffed Shells

This blog has moved to a new home!! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

This recipe is cheap, quick and easy...oh and delicious! The spinach can be omitted if it's not your favorite, but I think it really adds to the dish. Sprinkle a little parmesan cheese on top and dig in!

Ingredients:

12 oz. jumbo shell pasta
15 oz. part skim ricotta
4 oz (1 cup) shredded mozzarella
1/2 cup basil pesto
1 large egg
2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 jar (3 cups) tomato and basil pasta sauce

Mix together the ricotta, mozzarella, pesto, spinach in a large bowl. Add the egg to the mixture (the egg keeps the filling from getting too runny once it's cooked).

Cook the pasta (boil for 12 minutes) and add oil to the water to keep the shells from sticking to one another. Drain the pasta and rinse with very cold water.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spoon 3 tablespoons of the cheese and spinach mixture into the center of each shell. There should be enough cheese mix that the shells stay open slightly. Fill as many of the shells as you can so they pack in tightly into your baking dish.

Pack shells in tightly

Spread remaining sauce all over the top of the shells

Spread 1 cup of pasta sauce onto the bottom of the baking dish. Try to pack the shells in tightly in a single layer (cheese side up!). Pour remaining sauce over the tops of the shells. Bake for about 30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling up around the edges.

Enjoy!

Print Them! Tuesdays: Including NEW Publix Upcoming Sale Match Ups!

Afternoon shower

Print Them! Tuesdays is a great time to print out some of the best printable coupons to save for later. When I prepare my grocery list for an upcoming shopping trip, I like to have these ready to go. It saves time to do some prior prep work to maximize your savings!

Coupon Tip: While you shop, or if you run into the grocery store for something quick during the week, be aware of any "blinkie"coupon machines down the aisles. They contain manufacturer coupons that you can pair with store coupons. If I see a blinkie machine with coupons for products that I would typically buy, I try to take a few of them and save them for when the product goes on sale, or if I can match with a store coupon. It's always good to plan ahead!

For example, this coming week the Fruttare bars will be BOGO (buy one, get one). Their was a blinkie (and it might still be there!) in front of the freezer that contains the Fruttare bars for a $1/1 Fruttare bar box. You can use TWO of these since they will be buy one, get one. So you can pick up 2 boxes for less than the price of one. (Their was also a Target printable awhile back for $1.50/2 Fruttare bar boxes that you could use in ADDITION to the manufacturer coupons to get two boxes for around a buck! I missed out on the Target coupon by not printing it in time).

Also, don't forget about the Ibotta offers! If you aren't sure what Ibotta even is, see my post, "What is ibotta?"  Some of my favorite ibotta offers are:
.50/1 Tropicana Orange Juice ibotta offer
.50/1 Milano Cookie ibotta offer
.50/1 Greenworks cleaner ibotta offer
.50/1 Ziploc ibotta offer
.50/1 Newman's Own frozen pizza ibotta offer
.50/1 Ragu pasta sauce ibotta offer

*Remember you can use these ibotta offers in addition to all your coupons! I love it!

Here are the printables I am printing this week. That way, you can get a sneak peak at what I'm planning and are able to snag some of the same deals!

This blog has moved to a new home!! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

Football Sunday is the my favorite time to test out those fun, crowd-pleasing appetizers that are on my Pinterest pinboard and I am always looking for an excuse to make. Last Sunday, I made the absolute BEST slow cooker buffalo chicken dip. It was seriously good stuff.

This Sunday, I was craving our family favorite spinach dip. This is a quick and simple recipe to make and is always a crowd pleaser. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

(1) 14 oz. can of artichoke hearts, drained
2 or 3 cloves of garlic, minced

My little shopping helpers

Here you can see I put a quick list together to save a little over $20 bucks. No bad for very little effort and not a lot of time. If you are not too familiar with the coupon lingo, visit my Coupon Key for a fool proof guide as well as some of my printable coupon sources.

This week I am, however, planning on making a few separate trips to Publix. So if today's total seems less than stellar to you, hold tight, I will be updating this post once I pull a few more things together on my list. Their are a few other great deals I'm excited to try out for myself! (the best way to get updates are to "Follow Me" to the right, or join our couponing community on our Facebook page).

I'm excited to make my favorite soup, Slow Cooker Spinach Tortellini, on Sunday. Along with my husband's most requested artichoke and spinach dip for football (I will post the recipe later this weekend - it's the best! You won't want to order spinach dip at a restaurant anymore, since it won't ever be good enough after you make this recipe!) I got a few things for my meals, but will be going back for the rest, armed with my coupons.

For my favorite printable coupons this week, see my "Print them! Tuesdays" post!

$30 bucks!

So my favorite purchase in this shopping trip is the Hungry Jack deal. If you can find the hangtag on these babies it's a heck of a deal. Publix has a $2 off when you buy two Hungry Jack products (specifies the syrup and/or pancake mix). So I used the hangtag for free Hungry Jack pancake mix when you buy Hungry Jack syrup, then received an additional $2 off my syrup. Sweet deal ;)

Below you can read how other people did this week! Link up your site if you have one to share, or comment below and feel free to brag a little. This is one of my favorite times of the week to share with each other. It helps me, just like I hope it helps you!

Our blog just got social! Join Capturing Inspirations on Facebook by giving us the ol' thumbs up and be apart of the community to share and inspire one another!

How To Begin Eating Healthy While Using Coupons

Just flipping through a Sunday coupon insert shouldn't come to our surprise that the notion of eating healthy and couponing just can't be mixed. Many people associate coupons with junk food and the sad truth is, it's because their is a lot of it out there. A LOT. But the part that is really sad is many people who are looking to save money don't even entertain the idea of couponing because they want to eat healthy, so they keep paying full price for things when their is definitely a better way. So whether you are looking to eat healthier but don't think it's in the budget, or you already eat healthy but feel like you'll need to compromise too much to coupon, this post is for you. It's no accident you are here. We can all better ourselves in one way or another.

I am telling you the two can be done, eating healthy and saving money with coupons. Give yourself permission to not be perfect, because it will take some learning and practice. This is not always an easy task. Being wealthy is a lot like being physically fit and eating healthy in regards to the challenge they each possess. If it were easy, everyone would be skinny and rich. It's tough for many different personal reasons. But with one day at a time we can make improvements for the better. Again I will remind you to give yourselves permission to mess up. That's how we learn to get it right.

Here are a few key points to improve your health AND your wallet.

9/12 Publix Shopping Trip $102 Worth in Groceries for $12! Weekly Link Up Brag!

This blog has moved to a new home!! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

September is now in full swing (where did the summer go?), and I can't help but think about upcoming holidays and trying to plan ahead for them. Our family likes to make cinnamon rolls in the morning on birthdays, making this week even more appealing with all the great Pillsbury deals. Pasta is perfect to stock up on for casseroles and dishes to bring to parties. Their are a lot of fantastic deals this week to take advantage of, as well as many high value coupons to print and save for upcoming sales. See my "Print them! Tuesdays" blog post on some of those hot coupons currently available!

All for $12 bucks!

I am also excited to plan my first food donation this year, as my stock pile is growing and I have plenty to share. I will be looking into local charities in need to give a lot of my weekly shopping trip goods to for the months of November and December. I want to teach my son about the importance of giving this season. And what better way then having him participate in buying the goods at the store with me, then giving them to others in need. I am SO excited to be able to do this. Will you join me in your own communities? Please comment below if you will be putting a few extra things you pick up aside each week in a "donation" stockpile! Thanksgiving & Christmas (or whichever holiday you celebrate!) will be here before you know it!

Below you will also see others who have linked up to share their weekly brags! This is a great place to visit each week to see how we all did. I encourage you to check back and see how others did as link ups are ongoing and can help us all as we plan our lists. I always get inspired by others and I hope you do to! I don't want you to miss a week - remember to "Follow me" (to the right of the page) and you can stay up-to-date on the happenings around this site! If you like my blog, please think of me and share with your friends through email, text, and Facebook! That's right - this blog has a new Facebook page!  Give me an ol' thumbs up (a virtual good job "pat on the back") to make my day! You can find the page link to the right. Thanks for your support!

Ok, now lets get down to it!

If You Need A Good Laugh

When we roll into September I feel like it's the calm before the storm of birthdays, holidays, celebrations and definitely a lot of good times.

I personally have been using a lot of online cards and invitations. They don't get lost in the mail (or on your kitchen counter). They are easy to pull up on the internet from anywhere and get the details you need for that event or share that funny card.

Couponing in Florida: 3 Quick Money-Saving Tips

This blog has moved to a new home!! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

Welcome to Florida

Couponing has been an easy way to save some money for many folks. Some chuckle at the .25 cents coupons, or .50 cents coupons in the Sunday paper saying, "Oh WOW, I can save a whole .50 cents!" But many stores let you "double coupons" so that .50 cents turns into a dollar in a second at the register. A dollar off isn't bad! Especially if you're using a few of those coupons - you can get some things free - and those dollars stay in your own pocket!

I have never witnessed a coupon "doubling."

That is because I live in Florida.
