A Firehouse Favorite Recipe: Big Frankie's

We have moved to a new home! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

Big Frankie's

I tried the most delicious recipe tonight, courtesy of my husband (and the guys from the fire station). I love it when my husband gets excited to try out a new recipe from a previous shift at the firehouse. Not only do I get a break from cooking dinner, but we get to add some new, delicious recipes to our family cookbook to enjoy.

It takes absolutely NO TIME to prepare and is definitely a hit in this household. If you're looking for something different to try, give this toasted, sweet sandwich a try!

Here's the recipe:

Big Frankie's (A Firehouse Favorite)

Ingredients:

4 ct. Hoagie rolls (from the bakery)
1 bag of cole slaw
1 jar slaw sauce
1 can of chunked pineapple (or about 2 cups of fresh pineapple, cut in small chunks)
1/2 lb of ham
8 slices of provolone (or swiss) cheese

Begin by making the slaw mixture. Take the bag of slaw and pour into a large mixing bowl. Pour half the jar of slaw sauce (or enough to coat the slaw), add pineapple and mix well with hands. Set aside in the fridge to chill.

Slice hoagie to open up bread and layer with meat, then cheese. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Broil until cheese melts and the bread is lightly toasted.

Remove from oven and add slaw mixture. Serve.

Seriously, so good.
