Something to Smile About

We have moved to a new home! Come visit us at Capturing Inspirations at capturinginspirations.com!

Being a stay-at-home-mom has taught me a bit about frugality and being coupon savvy in order to keep my sanity in the shopping department of life. Whether it is groceries or clothing, shoes or make up. It has allowed me to hang on to a few of my old favorite products and continue to indulge in the occasional Starbucks as I did when I was a "working" woman.

I have been holding out for the coupon stars to align for me to be able to make this specific deal happen. Finally that time is now. Or at least until the 7/31/13 expiration date.

In college, I was introduced to Crest Whitestrips by a girl from my dorm who had noticeably the whitest smile and shared with me her little secret. I'm pretty sure I ran out and bought them the next day and was instantly hooked. That was over ten years ago and I still appreciate how these tiny plastic whitestrips get the job done. I have received a lot of compliments (from my dentist even!) and maintained these pearly whites even with heavily caffeinated mornings as a new mom. That is... until I took my finances down to "new mom" status with me and kissed my salary goodbye as we began careening into a lifestyle of a single income family. With my taste for Dior and couture, you KNOW this has been an adjustment.

If you appreciate a blinding white smile as I do, then you will be happy to know it doesn't need to break the bank. I guess I never realized how expensive these little strips are until you are out of college and have bigger bills of your own to pay (like a mortgage or the dreaded student loans...oh my, another blog post ahead on this hot button topic).

I have put together a great deal to save on Crest Whitestrips at your local Publix.

*I also want to note, if Publix is not where you shop, I know Target occasionally has those gift card deals with Crest Whitestrips. You can use your manufacturer coupon and get a gift card to increase your savings. Also, it might be worth checking to see what your local grocery store accepts for competitor coupons, if it's Publix coupons, you just struck gold.

Crest Whitestrips Regular price: (around) $40.00 +

use (1) $7.00 manufacturer coupon (from P&G insert)
and (1) $10.00 Publix coupon (from Refresh flyer - if you are getting the Stocking Spree booklet, I believe you will get one of these coupons, too)

also use (1) $5/$30 Winn Dixie (I bought bananas with the Whitestrips to not have any issues at the checkout for using too many coupons on one product)

This is a perfect example of how paying full price on products is just not smart. When you can keep $22 bucks of your own hard earned money, it pays to be a little patient!

It does take a little strategy and time to save with coupons. Sometimes, I just wish I could buy more things on impulse and not have to wait around for a good deal. However, I have learned it's not worth it. I know it sounds silly, but I wouldn't give up one penny pinching second of my life if it meant I couldn't stay at home and take care of my kids. I am living my dream. My mom did it. My husband's mom did it too. We are able to provide the same upbringing now for our children. Being a stay-at-home mom and all its' domesticated glory is challenging, but also very fun and rewarding. That is something to smile about.
